Meet Ashlee

Owner and Head Designer

We grow specialty blooms for floristry and retail using regenerative farming methods. Thistledown Floral was built on a set of core values which include stewarding and facilitating a diverse ecosystem on the land we tend, encouraging the regeneration of native microbiology, and connecting to the West Michigan community through education and investment.

At the forefront of our farm's ethos is the idea that local, ethically-grounded agriculture is the future of our planet.

Ashlee’s dad, Richard, helps with all things accounting and some occasional planting (when forced). In retirement he was convinced by Ashlee to move to Michigan as well, and spends his days with his grandkids when he’s not setting cycling records on Strava.

Ashlee Brotherton is the owner and creative mind behind Thistledown Floral. A former theatre and dance director, Ashlee’s training in visual execution of art informs her floral design work. She is intensely passionate about sustainable growing and floristry, and brings a vibrant and compassionate energy to interactions with her clients.

Ashlee is a mother of two incredible children who take up much of her time and heart. She and her husband spend an inordinate amount of time reading and debating best authors. She feels most at home on any Lake Michigan beach and takes any opportunity to be on the water.

Ashlee’s greatest joy is spreading beauty in her community, educating on the value of local agriculture, and creating magical moments and stories through flowers.
